Posting tasks
The price of the task you choose, plus a 13% service fee (minimum $1.00) and 6% on food or items your tasker buys, shown before you post. Priority adds $3.49, and $3 goes to your tasker. No hidden fees.
Anything in our 12 categories that follows the Community Guidelines.
Edit the price or details, or cancel at no cost before anyone claims it.
Free before it’s claimed. After that, the cancellation policy shown at posting applies.
Earning
Test payments are on: card payments use Stripe’s test card. Taskers keep 100% of the task price, $3 of each Priority, and tips during the test run.
Yes, 100%.
Returning-student discounts lower the agreed task price, so you earn the discounted price shown before you claim. Tips stay 100% yours.
Safety & privacy
Only the confirmed tasker, only while the task is active.
Tutor applicants select sophomore, junior, senior or graduate standing. Automated approval requires a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and an A− or better in each requested course. Transcript or grade proof is checked before course approval; unclear documents go to owner review. Class standing is self-reported.
DormHand provides a cleaning supplies and safety guide. Cleaners must pass all five questions in the cleaning quiz before taking a cleaning. In-room cleaning also requires an approved, unexpired background check; checks last 12 months and are not a guarantee of conduct.
Cancel before a claim if needed. In an emergency call 911 or campus police. Test payments are on.
Task protections
Every delivery requires a drop-off photo. Food in the $30+ or $50+ tier and groceries with a receipt over $30 require a four-digit handoff PIN. If the poster cannot be reached, the tasker waits 15 minutes and uploads a photo before leaving without the PIN.
Food and pickup issues: 24 hours from Delivered or Done. Other tasks: 72 hours. Safety reports have no deadline.
Cancellation is free before a claim. Within two hours of a scheduled start, or after Heading to pickup for ASAP tasks, a poster owes 50% of the task price. If a receipt was uploaded, food plus the full delivery fee is owed. No fee if the tasker is more than 15 minutes late. Test payments are on; amounts are recorded only.
Tasker no-shows, late tasker cancellations, poster no-shows and poster late cancellations add strikes. Three strikes in a semester suspend posting and claiming for 14 days. Strikes reset each semester. Appeal through the Help Center under Strike appeal; the owner can override a suspension.
After approval choose DormHand credit or a card refund. During the test run, your choice and pending credit are recorded and no money moves.
At its sole discretion DormHand may reimburse up to $100 per task for physical damage caused by a tasker. Submit photos within 72 hours. It is not insurance and excludes cash, electronics data, pre-existing damage, poster-supplied or instructed items, and normal results of the task.
