TRUST & SAFETY

Built for people who live 40 feet apart.

Students working through notes together

Verified students only

Log in with personal Google. Verify your miami.edu Google account each semester. Receipts and notifications go only to your personal email; school email confirms enrollment. DormHand is an independent student marketplace. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the University of Miami.

Room details stay hidden

Posters share their building, not their room number. The room number shows only to the confirmed tasker during an active task. When the task ends, it hides again.

Test payments on

Card payments use Stripe’s test card. Your full price breakdown is shown before posting. Do not arrange cash or off-app payments.

Two-way reviews

Both people rate each completed task. Reviews only come from completed tasks, so they can’t be faked.

In-app chat, no phone numbers

Chat stays in the app. You never need to share your phone number or socials to get a task done.

Report and block

Every task and profile has Report and Block. Reported accounts are reviewed and can be removed.

Delivery proof and private chat

Every delivery requires a drop-off photo. Food in the $30+ or $50+ tier and groceries with a receipt over $30 require a four-digit handoff PIN. If the poster cannot be reached, the tasker waits 15 minutes and uploads a photo before leaving without the PIN. Keep payments and contact in DormHand. Paying outside the app isn't allowed and removes your protection.

DormHand Damage Pledge

DormHand may, at its sole discretion, reimburse up to $100 per task for physical damage caused by a tasker. This pledge is not insurance. File within 72 hours with photos. The owner reviews every request and decides whether to approve an amount or deny it.
